Sutra on the mount

Here is another poem about the process of opening.

The sutra on the mount

We have gone through too much
to hold back now
this is mine
and that is yours
have we not had enough of that already?
My heart runs to the mountaintop
and says “Yes!
From here
everything looks beautiful
the houses in the valley
the cars on the road;
everything looks orderly
no plumbing problems
no exhaust fumes
no dishes in the sink
what are you worried about?
You have seen
what cleverness has done.
It isolates even as it protects.
It is better to be naïve and foolish
and trust
that the mundane can hide but never obscure
bury but not kill
strangle but not choke
and in the end
the few moments of opening will endure
decades of closing up”.
