Bal Govind

Bal Govind is the Baby Krishna. I always thought the Krishna and Kamsa story had a spiritual interpretation.

Do you take a dew drop
and hold it to the fire?
Do you tell a sapling
“you must be strong as an oak tree
and need no protection”?
Do you tell a child
‘you should be able to earn a living’?.
Do you take a pearl
and let people step on it?
Do you light a candle
and leave it out in the rain?
Too long have I listened
to drivel like that
and exposed tender parts of myself
to the seasons.
Too long have I left
budding spirituality
to the mercy of the environment.
Too long have I let
the world like kamsa
smash my spirituality to death.
